On September 29, 2021, the Facebook series Red Table Talk (RTT) aired an episode with a focus on BBLs.
This episode brought to light the dangers of BBLs, and we were relieved that the proverbial ‘dirty laundry’ was finally aired on a highly regarded, award-winning show.
The Brazilian butt lift is the fastest- growing cosmetic surgery procedure in the world — but is it safe?
Some say the BBL is the most dangerous cosmetic surgery procedure, yet it is the back-alley injections and illegal procedures that give them a bad name. We want all of our patients to be well informed about Brazilian butt lifts before they make the decision to enhance their bodies. If you have considered getting BBL surgery and want to avoid unnecessary risk, read this first.
BBLs in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is known for its soft-sand beaches, beautiful people, and glorious culture. Unfortunately, it has also become synonymous with botched Brazilian butt lifts. In fact, the University of Texas has identified it as the most dangerous place to have cosmetic surgery. Medical tourism is a thing. It has become increasingly popular to travel to Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia for cosmetic surgery. One thing to consider, should you experience complications post-surgery, who will you turn to? It will be cost-prohibitive to return to these nations. It is safer to have your BBL surgery conducted in the country in which you reside. If done in the United States, at least you are protected by enforceable laws, medical boards, standards, and associations. In the event of malpractice or wrongful death, there is little to no chance that you or your family will receive restitution outside of the United States, Canada, or Western Europe.
Don’t Skip the Consultation
Meeting with the nurse is a formality. Speaking with the physician’s assistant and anesthesiologist is critical, but it’s not enough. Never schedule surgery without speaking directly to the doctor. Have a face-to-face to determine if it is a good fit. Can you trust your life in this person’s hands? What type of vibe do you get from them? Ask yourself if they are genuinely present during the consultation. Always listen to your gut. Do they hold any biases that may affect how you are treated? Discern if they are a good human, empathetic, and qualified. Don’t let the surgeon do all of the talking. Come prepared to discuss all your concerns. Dr. Matlock meets with each prospective patient during an initial consultation and before each procedure. He is a man passionate about his patients reaching their full potential and living their best lives.
Where Is Your Fat Transferred?
The state of Florida passed a law mandating that fat cannot be deposited inside the muscle during BBLs. Blood vessels run throughout muscular tissue. If mistakenly punctured, fat can be transferred to the heart, and subsequently the lungs, causing extreme complications. Dr. Matlock has 38 years of experience. He transfers unwanted fat from your back, belly, and arms above the muscle – just underneath the skin. This technique quickens your recovery time, reduces soreness, and prevents harm.
Before and After Photos
During your consultation, request to see the surgeon’s before and after photos. If they do not have a portfolio, grab your purse and run. A cosmetic surgeon’s before and after photos are evidence of their medical prowess. You should be able to look at those photos and determine if the procedure is worth the investment. Remember that it’s your body and your life. If you don’t like what you see, find another doctor. You can view Dr. Matlock’s before and after photos on his Instagram page and website. Use them as a reference point for your consultation.
Know Where Your Surgery Is Taking Place
Whether your surgery costs is $3,500 or $15,000, it should be conducted in a clean, inspected, and certified environment. Ask your doctor where your BBL surgery will take place. You should feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, harness your power and ask questions.

Reduce Risk
Liposculpting is a very physically demanding procedure. It is generally conducted without Vaser Hi-Def technology. This can cause excessive bleeding, bruising, and infection. Dr. Matlock does not do BBLs without this technology. Vaser Hi-Def Liposculpting is clutch because it literally melts fat. It renders Brazilian butt lifts safer. With this method, BBLs are less tasking for both the patient and the doctor.
Vaser Hi-Def Liposculpting allows Dr. Matlock to extract live fat with ease. When fat is alive during removal, the body is less likely to reject it. Once bright, yellow, healthy fat is melted and removed from unwanted areas of the body, it is rinsed in a double antibiotic solution. Afterward, the fat is washed and re-injected into the deep, middle, and superficial fatty tissue, underneath the derma.
The Perfect Bottom
The results of this meticulous procedure as performed with the artistic eye of a veteran cosmetic surgeon is a work of art. Your derrière will be perfectly rounded, top to bottom, and side to side. An impeccable bottom should be shaped like a bowl. It is natural -bespoke for your body, your shape, and your frame.
