Designer Laser Vaginoplasty® is a collection of different vaginal rejuvenation procedures that aim to restore a more desirable appearance while simultaneously reducing discomfort. These procedures use various techniques to enhance the external structures of your vaginal region, including the labia minora, labia majora, clitoral hood, perineum, and mons pubis.

Personal Consultation
The first step to rejuvenating your vaginal health is attending a personal consultation with Dr. Matlock. During this consultation, he will ask you several questions about your medical history, symptoms or concerns, as well as your treatment goals. He will also perform a physical examination to assess the treatment area.
Dr. Matlock will use this information to confirm your candidacy and create your treatment plan. He will recommend the most effective procedure, or combination of procedures, for your goals. Dr. Matlock will also answer any questions you may have throughout the consultation. Preparation
Dr. Matlock or a member of his team will provide you with a set of pre-operative instructions to help you prepare for your procedure. These instructions generally include the following:
- Discontinue using any blood-thinning medications and supplements in the weeks before your procedure. These substances can increase your chances of bruising or bleeding.
- Cease any nicotine use in the weeks leading up to your procedure. You will need to give yourself at least two weeks before your procedure, but we generally advise that you stop sooner rather than later.
- Reduce any alcohol consumption two weeks before your procedure and one week after. Alcohol can impede your circulation, negatively impacting your body’s recovery process.
By following each instruction, you can ensure a successful procedure and smooth recovery.

Laser Reduction Labiaplasty of the Labia Minora
Laser reduction labiaplasty is a procedure that uses laser technology to eliminate excess tissue from the inner vaginal lips. This procedure primarily addresses discomfort or pain from enlarged or elongated labia, but it can also effectively address aesthetic irregularities or insecurities.
Dr. Matlock specifically uses laser technology to help enhance your recovery and results. The laser technology seals the blood vessels and nerve endings in your labia as it severs tissue. This results in cleaner incisions, reduced swelling, quicker healing, more detailed results, and reduced bleeding.
Labia Majora Reduction
A labia majora reduction can address asymmetry or sagging tissue around the outer vaginal lips resulting from pregnancy, aging, hormonal changes, significant weight loss, or other causes. Enlarged or elongated labia minora can cause a bulge in tighter-fitting clothing, leading to general discomfort, a lowered sense of self-esteem, and more.
A labia majora reduction can help restore a smoother and tighter feel to the labia majora, improving its overall proportions and appearance. It can also pair with volume-restoration treatments to restore a puffier, more youthful look, or with a resurfacing treatment if you have skin laxity.
Clitoral Hood Reduction
A clitoral hood reduction consists of removing excess surrounding tissue from the clitoral area. Dr. Matlock can use this procedure to restore a sense of symmetry while also exposing more of the clitoris itself. Patients typically pair this with another vaginal rejuvenation procedure, but they can also receive it as a standalone procedure to enhance sensitivity or appearance.
Mons Pubis Reduction
The mons pubis is the fatty deposit located just above the pubic bone. This area acts as a cushion during sexual activity, but it also secretes pheromones. (1) Over time, this area can start to sag or bulge, becoming visible beneath your clothing. To address this, Dr. Matlock can either perform liposuction to remove excess fat or perform a lift to tighten the tissues.
Perineoplasty (Perineum Sculpting)
The perineum is the soft area of tissue between the vaginal opening and the anus. (1) This area often scars during pregnancy, or it can develop excess tissue near the vaginal opening. Dr. Matlock can use several different techniques to eliminate any potential discomfort in the area and restore a smoother look and feel.
Combination Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®
Combination procedures consist of receiving one or more of our vaginoplasty procedures in one sitting. Patients often choose this option to address multiple concerns for more comprehensive and cohesive results. If you are interested in combining your procedure, Dr. Matlock will work with you during your consultation to determine which combination of procedures best delivers your aesthetic goals.
Recovery
After your procedure, Dr. Matlock and his team will release you home to begin your recovery. Dr. Matlock will help you manage your pain for the first 18-24 hours using a pudendal block. This is a nerve block that he places during the procedure to help minimize post-operative pain or discomfort. (2) Once this wears off, you will be able to manage your symptoms using prescribed medications or a cold compress.
You may be able to return to light desk work and other minimal tasks after 3-5 days. However, you will need to continue to avoid any physical exercise, demanding tasks, or sexual activities until Dr. Matlock or a member of his team provides clearance to return.
Dr. Matlock or a member of his team will provide a full set of post-operative instructions after your procedure to help guide your recovery. These will include any guidelines for incision care, activity restrictions, or managing side effects. Dr. Matlock and his team also remain available to provide direct support if any concerns or questions arise.
Results
You will be able to experience the full results of your vaginoplasty once you fully recover. You may enjoy a smoother, more contoured appearance in your external vaginal structures as the procedure corrects any asymmetry or imbalances. You may also experience improvements in comfort after removing hanging or sagging tissue, alleviating any pain that tugging or twisting may have caused.
