Genetics and aging affect every part of our bodies, including our buttocks. In particular, our genes determine our skeletal structure and how our bodies store fat. Many people eat healthy diets and spend hours at the gym, trying in vain to create the perfect butt and ending up disappointed.
Dr. Matlock performs the Brazilian Butt Lift for patients nationwide, helping them achieve their ideal look. Dr. David Matlock has performed this procedure thousands of times over the past 22 years and popularized it nationally as a co-star of the Dr. 90210 reality show. Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
While a Brazilian Butt Lift is an excellent, life-changing procedure for those who desire a more youthful appearance and pleasing aesthetics for their buttocks, some patients are a better fit than others. It’s important to be in good general health and to have realistic expectations for the procedure, along with adequate body fat and skin elasticity.
What are the advantages of a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Patients are thrilled with the results after Dr. Matlock performs their Brazilian Butt Lifts. Patients flock to this procedure because it offers a more natural result than traditional buttock implants. The process of fat transfer vs. silicone injections is much safer and more practical. Compared to more invasive surgery, a Brazilian Butt Lift typically offers fewer complications and results that feel and look extremely natural.
What happens during a Brazilian Butt Lift?
During the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, Dr. Matlock will use liposuction to remove fat from the abdomen, waist, back (area below, under, and above the bra), arms, and/or thighs. Dr. Matlock will discuss your specific goals and determine where fat will be removed during your initial consultation. The technique used results in approximately 95% fat viability.
The extracted fat is purified, and excess liquid is removed to prepare it for transfer to the buttocks. Then, Dr. Matlock will inject the purified fat into specific areas of your buttocks to achieve your desired volume and shape.
Brazilian Butt Lifts are outpatient procedures, and most patients opt to receive general anesthesia. However, we do offer local, local IV sedation and twilight anesthesia. Those who wish to avoid general anesthesia may also use local anesthesia with general sedation.
In most cases, the procedure will last between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the number of areas to be suctioned, the size, and the amount of fat to be injected into the buttocks.
What happens after a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Swelling and soreness are typical for about one week following a Brazilian Butt Lift. A prescription for pain medication is provided to manage pain, and you will receive prophylactic antibiotics for two weeks.
Patients are encouraged to rest for several days and should ultimately return to light activity or work within four to seven days.
For four weeks, you will have a special garment to hold and splint the liposuction areas and buttocks in place. As the weeks progress, you will need to wear the garment less and less.
The incision for a Brazilian Butt Lift is minimal, as Dr. Matlock will make a small incision that is easily concealed in the fold of your buttocks. There may be some drainage from the liposuction sites for a day or two after the procedure, requiring a change of bandages.
Patients are advised not to sit directly on the buttocks for two weeks after their butt lift procedure. We suggest sitting on your thighs and sleeping on your stomach or sides for the first two weeks. Dr. Matlock will assess your healing during follow-up appointments and tell you when to sit in a modified position to lessen pressure on your buttocks. You can return to your normal sitting patterns and exercise routine approximately six to eight weeks after your Brazilian Butt Lift.
To maintain the results of your Brazilian Butt Lift, you must live a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise.
